ABOUT TIMSGIVING

Timsgiving was the inaugural fundraiser and festive celebration of life honoring Timothy “Timmy” Michael Thompson. Timmy died tragically in 2004 at the age of 24 after struggling with opioid use disorder.

Timsgiving, held on November 22, 2019, allowed us to honor Timmy in the best way we know how—by eating, laughing, listening to music, and sharing stories, together. We also gave back—and continue to give back—to causes that would be meaningful to Timmy.

We want to thank the familiar faces of friends, family, and members of the community who helped us mark an astounding 15 years without Timmy. We are so incredibly grateful for your presence, participation, love, and generosity. This is just the beginning and can’t wait for what’s next.

HELP US make a difference, FOR TIMMY

Timsgiving marked the official kick-off of several partnerships with local organizations whose mission aligns with the things that brought Timmy joy in life as well as what caused his untimely death.

tIMMY cooked

Timmy was a chef and culinary student, so we’re giving back to organizations that support the culinary arts, namely the Holyoke Community College (HCC) MGM Culinary Institute, where he attended. We created the Timothy M. Thompson Memorial Scholarship in his name.

TIMMY drummed

Timmy was a self-taught drummer, who played up and down the east coast with his bands after getting his start in the backyard shed. That’s why we’re giving back to organizations that support percussion education and training, namely the Community Music School of Springfield (CMSS).

timmy struggled

Timmy’s struggle with opioids is all-too-common a story today. We’re supporting organizations that advance research, treatment, and prevention of opioid use disorder to try to prevent another life lost to the opioid epidemic, which is why we’re giving back to the Baystate Health Foundation.

OUR PARTNERS

In addition to the organizations to which we’re donating, we want to thank our incredible event partners for making Timsgiving possible.

Celebrate we will, ‘cause life is short but sweet, for certain.
